Yes. If a tour still has seats available and its booking and check-in window is still open, you can book Cairns tours on the same day as travel. I Love Cairns has instant availability on its site, for reef, rainforest and adventure tours, all with same day departures.
There are hundreds of tours that depart from Cairns every day of the year. There will most certainly be tours available for tomorrow, including reef, island, rainforest, adventure, harbour cruises and waterfall tours. Check out the I Love Cairns site for instant availability and bookings, for Cairns tours departing tomorrow.
Great Barrier Reef Tours are some of the most popular in Cairns, with many boats selling out in advance. Thanks to the large number of tour operators there is usually at least 1 Great Barrier Reef tour you can book for tomorrow, if not more. We provide instant availability and bookings, for Cairns Reef tours departing tomorrow.
Arriving in Cairns and have not booked any tours? No problem we can help get your holiday started straight away. If you’ve arrived on a super early flight, we might be able to get you on a half-day reef or island tour. There are also half-day afternoon tours available, including Barron River Rafting and Cairns River Tubing. For even more flexibility check out jet boating, river cruises and sunset cruises.
If you know what you want to do, particularly in regard to Cairns Reef Tours then you should book them as soon as you have your dates. Some Cairns Reef Tours, particularly the overnight reef tours, do sell out sometimes weeks in advance. There is usually availability for last minute rainforest tours, harbour cruises and adventure tours.
The best last-minute Cairns tour is usually a half-day tour with afternoon departures. These will suit anyone arriving in the morning and wanting to get straight into their holiday. Tours with afternoon departures include rainforest rafting and river tubing, Cairns jet boating, river cruises and sunset cruises. These usually have availability, see our listings for more information on what is available for today.
If there was a specific tour you wanted to do and it’s already sold out, then check out tomorrow’s availability. If it was a general tour you wanted to do, like a reef or island tour, then just because one operator is sold out, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it with someone else. Or if you wanted to do the reef today and it’s sold out, then look at the rainforest tour options, whilst also locking in an advance bookings for tomorrow’s reef tour. We can help. We can also package tours into a bundle and if you spend over $750 we’ll lend you a GoPro underwater camera to use for the duration of your tours.
No. Cairns tours are not cheaper if you book at the last minute. Rather than discounting tour prices, operators will have a minimum number to run arrangement, and if they do not fill the seats they won’t run the tour. So, there is no benefit to booking your tours at the last minute from a financial perspective and in fact, waiting for a last-minute deal can leave you with fewer choices or no availability at all. This happens a lot on overnight reef tours. I Love Cairns will price match the best available offers (within reason) and if you spend over $750 on tours, we’ll lend you a GoPro underwater camera to use for the duration of your tours.
Yes. Cairns tours do still operate if it rains. We are a tropical destination and rain is not uncommon in Cairns and surrounding areas, especially in the summer months (December – February). The majority of Cairns tours operate in all weather conditions* and seeing the rainforest in the rain is quite magical. From a reef touring perspective, just because it’s raining in Cairns it does not mean it’s raining at the reef. Sometimes it does. Regardless, you were going to get wet at the reef, so don’t let the rain impact your choices, it certainly doesn’t impact the corals and marine life beneath the surface.
*If there is tropical cyclone activity, heavy rain, strong winds or localised flooding, some tours may be impacted. If this is the case, then the operators will contact you to advise further details. These events are infrequent. Australia’s official tropical cyclone season runs from November to April.
