Cairns River Tubing – CAG

Cairns river tubing tours are an awesome way to enjoy some of this town’s rainforest rivers. Cairns Adventure Group (CAG) has three rivers to choose from and will take you to the best one to maximise experience, pending conditions on the day. You can expect to get wet, bounce down rapids and splash along the shallows. The cool freshwater rivers are surrounded by established trees, ferns and long grasses, providing shade and a scenic backdrop. This tour lets you do what the locals love to do, which is making the most of the beautiful natural places you can go, explore and immerse yourself in nature.

The Cairns river tubing tours are half day tours, with morning and afternoon departures, and provide between 1.5 and 2 hours of tubing. The tubes are professional grade and the CAG River Guides provide instruction and safety briefings. Transfers are provided in air conditioned coaches, to and from Cairns city and the Northern Beaches. The minimum age to participate is 5 years old.

This half-day tour runs all year round and fits easily into most itineraries. There’s the option to self-drive to the CAG inner-city head depot at 36-38 O’Keefe St, North Cairns, or meet the crew at McDonalds in Gordonvale. Or book the return transfers. It includes river tubing instruction from experienced River Guides, helmets, life jackets and everything needed for tubing. The minimum age to participate is 5 years old.

What We Love About This Cairns River Tubing Tour, this is what I grew up doing. Splashing around in local creeks and rivers, having fun surrounded by nature. We’d pack a picnic and head to the river for the morning and afternoon. It’s an accessible experience and this tour makes it happen for visitors. CAG know where to go and provide the professional tubes and River Guides to make it the best experience possible. The rivers aren’t deep, so people who are uncomfortable in large bodies of water will be put at ease. It’s heaps of fun, for people of all ages. Read our Cairns River Tubing review.

We went to Cairns for an action packed holiday and that is what we found thanks to Julie and Richard at I Love Cairns. I can't say enough great things about them. Communication while planning the trip was amazing. After listening to what we wanted, they were able to customize and create an itinerary just for our family. We were able to dive on the reef, hike and enjoy an island, sit on the beach and raft down a river. They even planned some downtime to shop, look at art then enjoy the local restaurants and relax. The personal recommendations and guidance Julie and Richard gave us was just what my family needed. Thanks so much! I highly recommend booking with I Love Cairns.

We booked a diving trip to the GBR through I Love Cairns. Richard and his team could not have been more professional, personable and helpful. They are very knowledgeable on all things to see and do in Cairns and beyond. The I Love Cairns website has detailed pages on things to do, choices of operators and the attractions in the surrounding areas. And, they gave us a GoPro camera to use on our trip too. We thoroughly recommend the I Love Cairns team and thank them for the excellent service they provided.

Appreciated the local advice. We talked to Richard before booking a reef tour, which was reassuring with all the options available and trying to pick the best day. Tickets came through by email and all went smoothly on the day. Got some great video snorkeling with the GoPro that was conveniently delivered and demonstrated to us.
Response from the owner:Hey Julian, thanks for the review and I am happy you got some great videos with the GoPro and it was nice to meet you and your family.

We contacted Richard to help us choose the best reef tour for our family of six. The website was very helpful but it was great to be able to speak to a person. As well, he provided us a GoPro to use on the reef. He dropped it to us at our hotel and went through how to use it as well as giving us tips on underwater photography. He picked it up from us after the reef tour which was great as we were all pretty tired and we only had to go down to the foyer to return it to him. Richard also advised Kwells for sea sick prevention. Very glad we took these as a number of people were quite sick! As we are in Cairns for a week it was helpful to have Richard’s expertise on the tour options. He knows all the operators and has lots of inside knowledge he was able to pass on. Thanks for a great Cairns experience!
Response from the owner:Hey Carolyn, thank you for the review, I am glad you had a great time out on Tusa.

Booking our diving trip through I Love Cairns was super smooth and uncomplicated. We had an amazing experience with Divers Den on the OceanQuest and especially loved the free GoPro hire from I Love Cairns, which let us take home photos and videos of the Great Barrier Reef without having to pay extra. We would definitely book again and highly recommend them! :)
Response from the owner:Hey Nina, it was great meeting you and Niklas, there is nothing more I love than helping people book these trips and seeing how happy they are when we pick up the cameras at the end of the trips. Thanks for the review and safe travels.

Things to do Cairns River Tubing – CAG

 - Cairns River Tubing – CAG

Rainforest Experiences

Cairns River Tubing tours are conducted in rainforest rivers, which commenced their journey in the mountains that surround Cairns, winding their way over the coastal lowlands and out to sea. The rivers themselves have cool, clear water providing habitat for a diverse range of freshwater fish and turtles. They are surrounded by rainforest, from pretty ferns that line the waterway, to large trees which provide shade. From your vantage point on the river, you will see birds and butterflies and you might see dragonflies. The rainforest experience element of river tubing is moving through the water and admiring your lush, green surroundings.

River Tubing

River tubing is a safe water activity, suitable for everyone aged 5 years old and above. The rainforest rivers you tube in have relatively shallow water and small rapids, which are lots of fun. CAG have selected high-quality twin chamber tubes, providing a stable ride and performance in the water. Each participant will be provided with their own tube for the tour. You should wear river shoes with a backstrap or similar to protect your feet from rocks in the river, ‘crocs’, reef shoes and old runners are fine or you can hire some shoes for the tour ($5 additional cost to tour). Their River Guides are trained in safety and are with you in the water, throughout the tour.
