Active Tropics Explorer have a full day itinerary for their Cairns Daintree Tours, and they need it, as you cover a lot of territory. The highlights are undoubtedly the big names, you all know. The Daintree Rainforest National Park, a landscape that contains deep gorges, rainforest rivers, towering mountains and series of mangroves, which connect the lowland forests with the beaches and Coral Sea beyond. The guides provide evolutionary information on the Daintree Rainforest during the coach ride, but it’s when you’re on the boardwalks you get a true sense of the complexity of this living environment. Your ride is in an air-conditioned coach and there’s lots of stops, for you to get out and enjoy the sights and sounds around you. This includes visiting lookouts, rainforest boardwalks, Cape Tribulation Village and of course, Mossman Gorge. The tour also includes a guided Daintree River cruise, which adds another dimension to your Daintree Rainforest experience and gives you the opportunity to see saltwater crocodiles in their natural environment, on the banks of the river.

Cassowaries are an iconic resident of the Rainforests that surround Cairns. These majestic birds are easy to identify, standing between 1.5-2m tall with long legs, a large body covered in black plumage, a long blue neck, red wattles at the front and a casque on top of its head.
