Poseidon Port Douglas dive and snorkel run daily tours to the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs, part of the Great Barrier Reef. Their 24m high speed catamaran provides a stable ride to the reef, and you have around 4 hours at the reef, visiting 3 different reef sites, each day. It has access to moorings at over 25 different reef sites and visits 3 each day, picking the best ones to maximise your experience, pending conditions on the day of travel. You have around 4 hours at the reef with unlimited snorkelling and the chance to do a certified dive or introductory dive at each reef site. This tour is best suited for those who are comfortable and confident at swimming in the open ocean. Poseidon does not have a glass bottom boat or semi-submersible and as such, all reef interaction will be done in the water. There may be waves and current.

Snorkeling

Poseidon provides unlimited snorkelling during its Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef day tours. They visit 3 different reef sites and you have around 1 hour at each site. All snorkelling equipment is included in the day tour price – mask, fins, snorkel and flotation devices if required – as is snorkelling instruction and a guided snorkel tour with a marine biologist. The crew provide a briefing at each site, showing you the best places to snorkel.

Please note all snorkelling on Poseidon is conducted in the open ocean and as such, you should have a good level of swimming ability and fitness. Water entry and exit is via a transom platform, which is lowered down in the water for your comfort and convenience. Flotation devices and buoyancy vests are available if needed.

Introductory Scuba Diving - Poseidon Port Douglas – Dive and Snorkel

Introductory Scuba Diving (No Experience Necessary)

Poseidon Port Douglas reef tours also provides you with the opportunity to try scuba diving for the first time, with introductory dives. There is no prior diving experience necessary to participate in these, but the minimum age is 12 years old. You have the opportunity to do up to 3 introductory dives, 1 at each reef site visited. Introductory diving is in addition to the tour price. The dive price includes all equipment, briefings and your dive guide, who will be with you in the water at all times. The maximum depth you will go is 12m and the dive will generally last up to 30 minutes.

Please note certain health conditions can prevent you from scuba diving, this includes but is not limited to: asthma, epilepsy, chronic sinus conditions and ear problems, heart disease and sugar diabetes. It is not advised to try scuba diving if you are pregnant.

Certified Scuba Diving

Certified divers can book up to 3 dives on a Poseidon Great Barrier Reef day tour, 1 dive at each reef site visited during the day. All scuba diving is guided by the Dive Crew and group size varies, pending other guests on the boat on the day. As a certified diver you will need to show proof of your certification and you will dive to your experience and license levels. Water entry is giant stride from the side of Poseidon and each dive will last a maximum of around 40 minutes. Dive depth varies, but all sites are suitable for Open Water divers (and above).

Certified diving is in addition to the day tour price, but the dive price covers all equipment, site briefings and your dive guide.

Poseidon Port Douglas – Dive and Snorkel Itinerary

Poseidon Port Douglas is moored at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. Prior to boarding the boat, you must check-in at the Poseidon / Quicksilver reservations counter, which is inside the marina, to receive your boarding passes. Check-in is from 7.30am, with vessel boarding to commence at 8.15am for an 8.30am departure. You arrive back into Port Douglas at 4.15pm. All snorkelling equipment, morning and afternoon tea and a tropical buffet lunch is provided and included in the tour price. You should take a towel, sunglasses, hat, change of clothes and sunblock for the day, as well as cash or credit cards to make any beverage purchases. Tea, coffee and cold water is supplied and included.

Check in at the Poseidon / Quicksilver reservations counter, inside the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina to receive your boarding passes.

Boarding commences at Poseidon Dive and Snorkel, moored at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina. Tea, coffee and morning tea is available and provided for your enjoyment.

8:30 am

Poseidon departs and commences its cruise to the Agincourt Reefs, part of the Great Barrier Reef. All safety, dive and snorkel equipment briefings are conducted on the boat, on the way to the reef.

10:20 am

Arrive at the first reef site. Certified divers enter the water. Followed by introductory divers and snorkelers.

11:20 am

Poseidon moves to its second reef destination. For certified and introductory divers with 2 dives booked, you enter the water on arrival, followed by snorkelers.

12:00 pm

A hot and cold buffet lunch is served in the air conditioned interior. You can eat inside, or outside on the sundecks.

1:20 pm

Poseidon moves to its third and final reef destination for the day. Certified divers who have booked 3 dives are into the water on arrival, followed by any introductory divers and snorkelers. Snorkellers have the chance to participate in a marine biologist guided Snorkel Tour.

1:30 pm

Afternoon tea is made available.

2:30 pm

All guests back on board Poseidon for a final head count. In-water activities have ended for the day.

2:40 pm

Poseidon commences its return journey to Port Douglas.

4:15 pm

Poseidon arrives back to Port Douglas.
