Yes – the OceanQuest Cairns liveaboard reef trip is suitable for families. We have been on it with our son and there were other families on it, when we went. A few notes regarding this though, as follows.

  • There is no childcare or supervision provided on OceanQuest – if you bring your children, you will obviously be required to take care of them and supervise them.  There is also no infant facilities on the boat.

Some family members may be staying in a cabin with a stranger. When we went, Richard stayed in a room with another guest while Julie and Ethan shared a twin room. This is completely fine – just be aware.
  • OceanQuest provide reef site briefings at each location. If your child is aged over 12 years old then they can try an introductory scuba dive with no prior experience necessary*. If they are a certified diver, then they can dive with you and/or a dive guide. *Some health conditions will preclude you from diving, such as asthma, epilepsy and more.
